Downloadable eAudiobooks from NetLibrary and Recorded Books are digital versions of the latest best sellers, book club favorites, award winning authors, language learning courses, and more that you can download and listen to on your computer or portable listening device.
Here are some important FACTS:
- Free registration of user ID and password are required to be able to download (check out) eAudiobooks from NetLibrary. To register come into the library and we’ll help you set it up or to register from home click here. Once you’re registered, you can access your NetLibrary account to download books from wherever you have access to the Internet.
- Download times for an average 9 hour eAudiobook file range from about an hour for a radio quality eAudiobooks on a 56K modem to about 10 minutes for CD quality on a high-speed cable modem.
- EAudiobook files work with most portable music players, portable media centers, pocket PCs, mp3 players, and many smartphones. Desirable features for portable players include bookmarking, full time stamping, and a minimum capacity of 1 GB. Netlibrary's eAudiobooks do not work with iPod or Zune players because these players do not support Windows Media Files with digital rights management (DRM). See Netlibrary's Supported Portable Listening Devices.
- EAudiobooks are not divided into chapters. There are 3 ways to "save your place" when listening is interrupted:
- use the bookmark feature (on some higher-end mp3 players)
- use the off/on resume feature on many mp3 players
- note the elapsed minute on your mp3 screen and fast-forward to that point when you resume you listening.
- Your eAudiobook will work for 3 weeks and then stop working unless it is renewed online.
- You can check out up to 10 eAudiobooks at a time.
- You CANNOT burn eAudiobooks to a CD. (Well, you can, but the file’s encryption will make it unusable.)
